First City Tour First Day in Kathy's Centre In Arad

My name is Baia, I´m from Georgia. I´m volunteer of EVS express, my project is Powered by Corporet Social  Responsibility. Why I´m here? - My friend told me about this program  and then I read the information in details in internet, it seemed quite interesting to me, so I decided to try myself. I think that this program provides young people all over the  world with the personal improvement. I´m lucky to have a chance to participate in this project, this is a good examine, which I have to pass. I thought much about the role of volunteer and made up my mind that it is a very responsive work.  Volunteers must help people, take care of them and leave positive feelings to them. I like to meet people, to comunicate  with them…So, I think this  job is for me.

Now I´m in Arad.I feel I am exactly there, where I must  be. I like Romania, this is a fairyland with beautiful views, landscapes. On the way  from Bucharest to Arad I liked mountains with autumn colours, wooden houses. It was 12 hours of tiresome  travelling by train but it was worth of it. I like Arad, it´s a small, calm city with goodhearted people and beautiful architecture.

At first I hadn’t quite clear idea  about what I would have to do, but after the on-arrival trainings I already have understood  everything about my project. This week  was very productive for me, it helped me to acquaint with other volunteers, to become close to them.I liked Belie Felix, Oradia with it´s architecture and fotresses.

As for my job I have chosen homeless people´s places. In my opinion these people need more attention, special care to make  their life easier.I think  that I can do more for them,  then for those who don’t really need help. I was really   impressed after my first working  day in Kathy’s centre. I saw  sadness and love in those people’s eyes and I want to do something special  for them, anything that I can do.The most difficult  for me was the  visit in the area , where the poorest people live.I couldn’t  imagine  that on the other side of the rich  houses  poorest people live in the untolerable conditions. It is very  hard to see  and to comprehend.

Besides my activities I  want to work  on myself, I want to find  myself and realize what I want to do.I hope to improve  my English, because it is poor  and makes me difficulties to express my opinions, ideas..Also I want to study Romanian, I like this language,it´s pronunciation.and it  will  help me to comunicate with local people and  make my work easier.

At last I think these  six  months  will be the interesting  period of enquiring culture and traditions of different countries and of great experiences in my life.
