CSR in Arad
At first, we present what is the CSR project in general, what benefities can bring this project. CSR (corporate by social responsibility) projects are done by big companies, actually to have a good imige. For big companies, this is the way of showing the responsibility of their power. For example, in Arad we can find this kind of projects in ORANGE and in VODAFONE.
Orange aims to support increasing active involvement of people with society through communication and dialogue. Therefore chose to support Youth Parliament project coordinated by the Romanian Association for Debate, Oratory and Rhetoric.
The project was launched in all high schools in Bucharest, sector 2 and high schools in Arad, addressed to students of ninth and tenth grade. The result of the project was creating two Youth Parliaments - in sector 2 of Bucharest and Arad.
The process of election was a democratic one, the 85 advisors becoming representatives of 20,000 students. Mission is to young advisors is to represent their colleagues and the community they belong to local level and to be a serious dialogue partner for City Council. They are going to identify problems of the communities in which they belong, to propose solutions and work with advisers from the local City Hall to projects. In the project were involved over 160 volunteers who have promoted the project in 44 participating high schools. Over 18,000 young people were involved in the project and were included in the lists of voters. On May 6, 2005, Election Day, over 12,000 students have voted in the Youth Parliament representatives. Youth Parliament in Bucharest has 43 members and 42 members at Arad.
This project has a lot of results:
• increasing the involvement of young people in decision making process; • increasing involvement of young people with special needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds; • improve the awareness of European policies and facilitate cooperation between participants in the project; • develop young people’s skills through training courses, debates, conferences;
In Arad we found also CSR project in Vodafone: In order to support people with locomotion disabilities, Vodafone Foundations and Motivation organized a series of contests for them and followed the positive impact on wheelchair users.
In 2007, Vodafone and motivational foundations have initiated the "Partnership in Wheelchair Sports. Through him, the two organizers wanted to attract attention to the problems of persons with locomotion disabilities and help them to integrate into society through sport. "Vodafone Cup in the Wheelchair Tennis Camp" is one of the competitions within the program "Partnership in Wheelchair Sports. The event was promoted by NGOs and sports clubs of people with disabilities in Bucharest, Galati, Cluj, Arad, Oradea and Neamt. The competition began with a practice session for 3 days. On this basis, the competitors were split into groups of value. Official matches were held between 4 and July 6. There were 4 categories of competition: easy women, men's singles, double male and double female. At the end of the competition, all athletes received trophies and diplomas.
Results of this project was: • 18 persons with locomotion disabilities participating in the contest; • 24 appearances in the press about the Vodafone Cup in Wheelchair Tennis Camp.
So we can see that CSR projects are very important for society, by this project a lot of young or disability people can be involved in society. It helps to thm to realize their ideas and their abilities.
